How to create Custom Reports

Active Directory Reports contains specific functions for creating custom reports by modifying the already existing predefined reports. There are two ways to accomplish this custom reports generation.

Method 1

Right-click on any report from the report tree and select Save as Custom... For loaded reports you can select the same item from the grid pop-up menu or from the tool bar.

Method 2

Create a custom report using the Report Wizard. Select Customize... menu item from the pop-up report tree menu, grid menu or from the tool bar. The Report Wizard will be displayed where you can customize the selected report and save it as custom. From the Report Wizard you can change the search root, search scope, build and add your custom LDAP filter string or attributes, restrict maximum number of objects to load and modify report membership settings:

After you finished customizing your report click Save as Custom... button at the bottom of the wizard window. In both methods, when you click Save as Custom... the Save dialog box will appear. In this dialog box enter the name of your custom report (by the default the initial predefined report name will be displayed). Select if you want to save this report for the current domain only or for all domains and click Save.

Your new custom report will be saved in a Custom Reports section and added to the appropriate report category based on the report type. For example, if this is a user type report, it will be added to the User custom reports category.

You can create and save as many custom reports as you want. This feature is very useful if you do not want to change the initial default settings of the predefined reports, or if you want to create different versions with different settings of the same report. Also, if you save this report for all domains, it will be available in them under the Custom tab regardless of the the currently selected domain. Another useful feature of custom reports is to use the scheduler. You can create your custom reports according to your needs and schedule them when you want the reports run, making your Active Directory audit much easier and faster and timely.
