5.1.1.1 Released

ADReports5111cmp

We have been promising a release for many many months now.  Finally, we’ve arrived at the new and improved Active Directory Reports version 5.1.1.1.   One of the first big things we did was we removed Crystal Reports.  We had to do this due to some memory issues with the library.   When users were reporting on large sets of Active Dircetory data the library would redundantly copy this information into it’s own location and this caused a whole boat load of “out of memory” nightmares.   If you are dependent on still using Crystal Reports in our product you can still download the older version (4.3.1.4) from our products page.

Now the new version 5.1.1.1 boasts a whole lot of new features that I can’t seem to cover enough.  Here are the basic bullet points.

  • Completely new redesigned User Interface.
  • New report grids with built-in filtering, searching, grouping.  This is very powerful now with drag and drop ease!
  • New application skins.
  • New exporting functionality directly from the grid.
  • Export to CSV, XLS, TXT, HTML, XML, PDF.
  • New Print Preview that includes:
  • Customizing report
  • Exporting to PDF, HTML, MHT, RTF, XLS, XLSX, CSV, TEXT, Image File
  • Sending report by e-mail!
  • Customizable watermark capability in the reports.
  • Custom color.
  • Multiple page preview.
  • Zooming and scaling.
  • Page and Print settings.
  • Save.
  • Search.

New Features and Updates Part 2

When reporting with other utilities you have to know exactly what you’re looking for before you can even begin the reporting process.  With Active Directory Reports we take the difficult LDAP queries and we make them into reports so that you don’t have to focus on getting things moving.  Instead you can focus on the granularity of what pre-defined LDAP fields you require for your reporting needs.  Everything has been done for you.

GROUPS

There are 16 pre-defined group reports. Like user reports each group report can be filtered by Created date/time, Changed date/time and can be limited by maximum number of records to load.

Using membership settings any group report can be loaded with several types of group members. User can choose to load:

– Load direct members only

– Load direct members including nested members

– Include / Exclude nested group names

– Include / Exclude primary membership

Group members can be loaded with all attributes or only DistinguishedName attribute.

‘Selected Group Properties’ window displays the detailed information about selected group including

General Group Information, members and LDAP Attributes.

ORGANIZATIONAL UNITS

Organizational Units consist of 10 pre-defined reports. User and group reports OU reports can filtered by Created date/time, Changed date/time and can be limited by maximum number of records to load. Using the “Load members” option user can load any OU report with OU members.

‘Selected OU Properties’ window displays the detailed information about selected OU including General OU Information, members and LDAP Attributes.

COMPUTERS

AD Reports also provides 19 pre-defined computer reports that can be filtered by Created date/time, changed date/time and can be limited by maximum number of records to load with displaying detailed information about any selected computer.

GPO

GPO reports have 12 pre-defined reports that could be filtered as well by Created date/time, changed date/time and can be limited by maximum number of records to load. “Load Linked Object” option allows users to load GPO linked objects.

New Features and Updates Part 1

At MaxPowerSoft we’ve attempted to make our services more helpful based on user input from the community. We love user feedback and love to hear how you would like to enhance Active Directory Reports. In fact, the very reason we are writing this blog is because we have made an increasing number of enhancements unique to our current customers that requested each change.

So what have we done to make our product better than the competition?  In this short 2 part series we will walk you through what makes our product help you handle real-time reporting accurately on your Active Directory installations.

DOMAINS
MaxPowerSoft’s Active Directory Reports loads all domains in a current forest, including trusted domains.
User can see Password Policies and LDAP Attributes of any selected Domain.
Possibility to select / deselect domain controllers to include / exclude them from scanning when a user selects a report with non-replicated attributes (i.e. lastLogon).

USERS

There are 41 pre-defined user reports. Using General filter user reports can filtered by Created date/time, Changed date/time and can be limited by maximum number of records to load.

Using membership settings any user report can be loaded with several types of group membership. User can choose to load:

All groups except primary group.
All security groups including nested membership.
Group membership can be loaded with all attributes or only DistinguishedName attribute.
‘Selected User Properties’ window displays the detailed information about selected user including general user information, membership, security information and LDAP attributes.

This concludes part 1 of our recent changes. Part 2 will include changes to our Groups, Organizational Units, Computers and GPO. Thank you for taking the time to assess the changes we have made. While you are at it. Feel free to download a latest copy of Active Directory Reports x86 or x64. Also, come and get a free trial registration as well.

Thanks Again!
