How to Run a Report
AD Reports operates on a per-domain basis, which means you need to select a domain before running any reports. Once the domain is selected, generating a report is as straightforward as making three mouse clicks.
Choose a Domain From the Domain Tree
Select a Report Tab
Pick a Specific Report From the Report Tree
Search for a Report
To search for a report using keywords, use the "Find Panel" located above each report tree category. As you type the keywords, the report tree will filter accordingly.
The logger will show the time it took to load the report.
Instant Re-Runs and “(from cache)” New in 7.5.2
To keep things fast, AD Reports keeps the results of recently viewed reports for a few minutes, per domain. If you re-open the same report — or switch to another domain and come back — the results appear instantly instead of querying Active Directory again.
When results are served this way, the status bar shows “(from cache)” so you always know whether you are looking at a fresh query or a recent one.
This also applies to reports that scan domain controllers directly — anything using Last Logon, Bad Password Time, Bad Password Count, When Changed or Logon Count, including “Inactive For”, “Never Logged On” and “Changed In/Between”. These are the slowest reports to run, so re-opening them from recent results saves the most time.
