About Azure Group Reports

Azure Entra ID Group Reports provide visibility into the groups configured in your Microsoft Entra ID tenant. These reports help administrators identify ownerless groups, empty groups, and get a complete group inventory including security groups, Microsoft 365 groups, and distribution lists.

Available Reports

All Groups

Retrieves a complete list of all groups in your Entra ID tenant, including security groups, Microsoft 365 groups, distribution lists, and mail-enabled security groups.

Ownerless Groups

Lists groups that have no assigned owner. Ownerless groups can become unmanaged and pose a governance risk — this report helps identify them for cleanup or owner assignment.

Empty Groups

Lists groups with no members. Empty groups may be candidates for cleanup or may indicate incomplete provisioning.

Group Inventory

A comprehensive inventory of all groups with details including group type (Security, Microsoft 365, Distribution), membership type, mail-enabled status, member count, and creation date.
